2023 Picture Book Mentorship

SCBWI Michigan is hosting a mentorship for picture book writers. If you have an idea for a picture book and want to learn about the publishing business, check out the mentorship.

Mentorships have so many advantages. The publishing business is unique. While it's easy to fall into complaining about how the business works, in many ways, being in publishing brings appreciation to the authors and illustrators with books on the shelves. Making books is half of the process. Selling books is the other half.

While I have not had a formal year-long mentorship, I came in second for the nonfiction mentorship. But, volunteering with SCBWI Michigan has brought me many different informal mentors.
